Mierie's Testimony

Hi! I feel very privileged to be able to tell you about all the amazing things God has been recently doing in my life! God is good.

If you know me, you might not remember me as one devoted to living a holy Christian life. That’s probably because I was not that person. I was a self-proclaimed Christian and always knew that God worked in my life, and simply accepted it. However, I guess God was not satisfied with this relationship, and it was New Year’s Eve service of 2009-2010 that I truly felt the Holy Spirit stirring in my heart and pulling me back to my Father. It was at this moment that I realized and finally accepted that He desired an intimate relationship with me. It took very little effort on my part, and it truly was so strange to see myself wanting to grow closer to God, and actually acting on it. It was as if a train track was switched inside of me, and suddenly my life was chugging along a different path.

My initial plan in coming to South Korea was a short term plan – to save up money and pay off debts while experiencing my home country. God had different plans for me, however, and I am here longer than I had expected. Now I think I know why He brought me back. While I have always had a small place in my heart for missions, I never felt ready or worthy to contribute. Becoming a member of Onnuri English Ministry Church here in Korea, I have fallen in love with its vision – “To be the Acts 29 church by sending out teams to establish healthy reproducing churches in every country of the world,” and am very excited to finally be used by God in this area.

God has given me the opportunity to share His love and friendship to the children in Nepal, and to share His grace and mercy by telling the local people about how He saved me. I am so excited to be able to serve him in Nepal this summer. Our team will depart on July 28 and return on August 6. Our focus will be a Vacation Bible School for the children, and evangelism to the local people.

I hope that missions will be a part of my life in the future. Every day, God gives me a glimpse of His love for all of His people, and I am so thankful that He is using me to serve them. If you would like to support this mission trip in prayer, I ask that you pray that the Holy Spirit will empower the team with courage and wisdom, especially for me as I still do not yet feel adequate for such a big responsibility. I also ask that you pray for the people in Nepal that we will encounter, that each and every one of their hearts would be prepared in advance to receive the love of Jesus Christ. Most importantly, I pray that only Jesus Christ’s name will be glorified in every single thing that is done on this trip to further God’s Kingdom.

I thank God that He has put people like you in my life with whom I can share such exciting experiences!
God Bless you!

All for God and for His glory,
Mierie Chung
